Expert from an article about Sidney Lumet

By Lisa | November 14, 2007

From jsonline.com

“I did it for Sidney,” actress Marisa Tomei said matter-of-factly.

The “it” she’s referring to is an explicit sex scene in the opening moments of the crime drama “Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead”; Sidney is director Sidney Lumet.

Tomei added something one hears frequently regarding the veteran director: He’s a filmmaker who handles actors perfectly, and thus, actors will do most anything he asks.

“It was a really great cast,” Tomei added, referring to co-stars Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ethan Hawke and Albert Finney. “It was a great script, and I trusted him obviously. I trusted Sidney very, very much. I wanted to do it.”
