Marisa in Total Film

Other than this little snippet from the interview, I haven’t found out any other information about this.  But some sort of article/interview should be be featured in the new issue of Total Film.

Marisa Tomei has revealed why she finally agreed to nude scenes in Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead and The Wrestler, after years of body doubles.

The Oscar-winning actress said that, at 44, she can finally handle the reaction that going nude provokes.

“I definitely feel like I didn’t want to do that kind of thing when I was younger because I didn’t think that it was something a serious actress would do, in a way there is validity to that,” she told Total Film.

The In The Bedroom star added that she was concerned she would lose her credibility if she took off her clothes.

“It’s harder to be taken seriously when you’re younger, doing that but I’ve also come to a point of being able to handle the reaction to it - that probably would have been more difficult when I was younger.”

Marisa isn’t still pole dancing

Marisa Tomei may play a stripper in latest film The Wrestler, but she hasn’t gone on to use any of her newfound skills off set.

“I can’t say that I’m still pole dancing. It’s hard!” the actress told People magazine.

“I understand the hazards of the exotic dancer in a way I never imagined.”

The 44-year-old is up for a Best Supporting Actress gong for her role as stripper Cassidy opposite Mickey Rourke at this year’s Oscars, although she admits she had to think twice about taking the part.

“I definitely thought long and hard about it before I committed,” she said. “I loved the challenge of it.

“What didn’t appeal to me was, frankly, New Jersey, naked, winter!”

New Marisa interview

Marisa Tomei recently turned 44, but in “The Wrestler” she hardly looks a day older than she did when she first stomped into our hearts 16 years ago as a brash Brooklyner in “My Cousin Vinny” (1992) and surprised everyone — including herself — by winning the best supporting actress Oscar. Over the years since, she has quietly but consistently proved to those who thought that was a fluke — or worse — that she is the real deal. And I’ve got news for you: In less than two weeks, she could well win her second Oscar, in the same wide-open category, as a result. The path Tomei has taken to this point has been surprising to many. Some suspected she would go the route of a Julia Roberts and become a romantic leading lady in studio films; instead, her filmography is more like that of a Catherine Keener, an indie specialist whose contributions have helped to elevate many low-budget indies into must-see films. Among them: Nick Cassavetes’ “Unhook the Stars” (1996), which garnered her a SAG Award nomination for best supporting actress; Tamara Jenkins’ “The Slums of Beverly Hills” (1998), which brought her an American Comedy Award nomination for funniest supporting actress; Todd Field’s “In the Bedroom” (2001), for which she received her second career supporting actress Oscar nod; and Sidney Lumet’s “Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead” (2007), which showcased her beauty and feistiness as well as any film since “Vinny.”

Marisa on choosing an Oscar gown

SOURCE

Marisa Tomei has confessed the pressure is mounting for her to choose the right gown for this year’s Oscar ceremony.

“There is a lot of pressure for the big day but I don’t know what I’m doing yet,” she told Entertainment Tonight.

Speaking at the Oscar Luncheon at the Beverly Hilton in LA, the actress said she was enjoying the run up to the Academy Awards ceremony on February 22.

“It’s lovely to be part of the community,” she said.

“It’s just a nice thing to be part of the celebration.”

Marisa, who won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 1993 for My Cousin Vinny, has been nominated for her supporting role in Mickey Rourke film The Wrestler.

The naked truth about Marisa Tomei

SOURCE

There’s a phrase that the sportscaster Tony Kornheiser likes to use describing women of a certain age who retain every bit of their sexual allure — the Susan Sarandons, Helen Mirrens and Tina Turners of this world.

“Still getting it done,” he says in admiration.

Marisa Tomei is years past the blush of youth, more than a decade removed from her winsome, wise-cracking Oscar-winning turn in My Cousin Vinny. She turned 44 last month. But the lady is “still getting it done.” Not many actresses of her age and stature would dare bare their all onscreen. She dares. Playboy magazine took notice, not with a pictorial, but with admiring words, echoed by Nerve.com: “Hotter Now than Ever.”

Tomei hears this and giggles. The “sex symbol” thing has come late to her, largely thanks to films with daring nude scenes — 2007’s Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead, which had her playing a bored wife cheating on her drug-addict businessman husband, and The Wrestler, which opens Friday. She took the role of the stripper Cassidy in that film — the performance, as a woman her director Darren Aronofsky describes as “trying to keep her real life separate from the fantasy world she earns her living in,” is earning Tomei Oscar buzz.
