Fox Searchlight is in talks with Marisa Tomei, John C. Reilly and Jonah Hill to star in an intergenerational comedy.

The project, at one point called “Safety Man,” will center on a budding romance between a man (Reilly) and woman (Tomei). Her son (Hill) attempts to foil their efforts.

It comes from indie filmmakers Jay and Mark Duplass, who are expected to begin production in the first half of 2009.

Tomei is drawing awards attention for her role as a sympathetic exotic dancer in “The Wrestler,” Reilly (”Walk Hard”) is starring in the vampire picture “Cirque du Freak,” and Hill (”Superbad”) has been cast in Ricky Gervais’ directorial debut, “This Side of the Truth.”

Page Six is reporting this, suggesting that Marisa may be “researching a role”. Of course, this ties in to recent reports that Marisa has committed to playing a stripper in upcoming movie “The Wrestler”, and her ever-dedicated approach (no, not THAT dedicated) to getting inside her characters.

According to imdb.com and awardsdaily.com, Marisa has been cast in the new Darren Aronofsky film The Wrestler co-starring Mickey Rourke.  Marisa will play a so far unnamed middle aged stripper who “serves as a parallel to the main character.”  Shooting is scheduled to begin next month.

Comingsoon.net talked to William H. Macy at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and here’s what he had to say about a sequel to Wild Hogs:

We’re talking.  Apparently Dudley, the character I play, is going to get married to Marissa [sic] Tomei  and the boys try to take him out on one last trip.  I worry for Dudley.

While not impressed by the first one, I will of course watch the second if Marisa chooses to reprise her role as Maggie.

According to several blogs and online sources, Marisa is one of the stars rumored to be attached to the Smurf 3-D movie that’s scheduled to come out later this year.  The release of the movie is just part of the year-long celebration of the 50th anniversary of Smurfdom.  Sorry, couldn’t help myself lol.  As for the rumor itself, I have not seen anything on any of the major news websites so I have no idea if it’s true.
